Sant Feliu. It's historical background.

The Benedictine Monastery is the town's most important architectural feature. It still conserves important aspects such as 10th Century Romanesque Porta Ferrada, which has become a symbol in itself. The church of La Mare de Déu dels Àngels, the towers "Les torres del Corn i del Fum" also form part of the monastic buildings, and today houses the towns History Museum. The surrounding area is being redeveloped and will soon be the home of the Carmen Tyssen-Bornemisza Catalan Art Collection.

The town's history is centred on the production of cork, and its relationship to the international wine industry. A high percentage of Champange corks are made in Sant Feliu. The activity has also left an important architectural legacy, along with the Hostal del Sol there are the Art- Nouveau houses near the beach of San Pol, the manor houses on the seafront located on the Passeig del Mar, and presided over by the Casino de la Constància.

Other places of interest are the toy, bottle top and sea rescue museums. In addition, the Chruch of Sant Elm has one of the most spectacular viewpoints over the Costa Brava, from where Ferran Agulló (Catalan writer) gave the coast its name.
